Lately, I’ve been thinking how many human things are like murmurations. That consciousness provides enough perspective to perceive these emergent patterns, but not enough specificity to detect the movements and mechanisms between actors that conjure the totality. We can see the forest, and the trees, but not what happens between the idea of trees to create the idea of the forest. This leaves space for an invisible hand, a prime mover, when maybe there is no space. Just the two ideas necessitating each other.
